How Email Address Directories Can Help You To Locate Information

June 5th, 2010 ~ Posted in: Uncategorized

It is not so uncommon to receive email and have no idea who it is from; this can even be if the message is addressed correctly to you. Sometimes our friends or colleagues may have a number of different email addresses that they use that we are simply unaware off. There is now technology available that allows you to use a service that searches through email address directories to bring you personal details on the senders of emails.

There are many uses for email ID lookup services that search through online databases. Many of us now use the internet for banking and financial transactions. Because of this we can regularly be sent messages from our bank. But sometimes we may get sent mails that look like they are from our bank but are actually from a spammer or a phishing scam.

Before you reply to any message regarding online banking you should look up the email address so that you will have peace of mind that it is genuine.

To perform such a search usually takes just a few seconds whereas if you respond to a fraudulent email with important information you may do yourself permanent damage. It is well worth investing the brief time it takes to check the authenticity of the mail and the sender.

As with a lot of online services there are various packages available. At first you may want to try out a free email address search. But to get the best results you will have to pay a fee. By conducting an advanced search you will be able to find out about other email addresses the sender owns and also their home phone number, mobile number, date of birth, and contact address.

If you had been using a normal search engine to find info on email senders then you will be stunned at just how many more details can be had through trawling email address directories.

A Review Of The Google Nexus One

June 4th, 2010 ~ Posted in: Uncategorized

Google has created a lot of buzz around its own new handset to rival Apple’s iphone – and it has arguably better specs on almost every feature it offers. But are the features on the Google Nexus One enough to change public opinion? In an attempt to prove itself as a competent mobile phone manufacturer in its own right, Google has recently released the Nexus One, a mobile built by the established manufacturer HTC, but branded solely as a Google phone. Some notable features of the Google Nexus One include a huge 3.7 inch (diagonally) screen with a resolution of 480 x 800, an accelerometer, multi-touch support a proximity sensor. The Google Nexus One is available with 512 megabytes of ROM, 512 megabytes of RAM and an SD card, expandable from 4 gigabyte up to a possible 32 gigabytes. Wireless internet is an expected feature in the Nexus one, as is Bluetooth, GPS and 3G.

The Google Nexus One has a processor with capable speeds of 1 Ghz, meaning that it will be one of the fastest Smartphones available. It will also be running the most up-to-date version of the famed Android software, version 2.1. For Google, it is their first foray into the Smartphone market, and the Nexus One will be the first phone to have downloadable updates and patches for the operating system and other applications, available via the internet. Google released an update for the Android 2.1 OS, relatively soon after the release of the Nexus One enabling the support of multi-touch features of the screen, meaning that the Google Nexus One is one of the first handsets to have such features as ‘pinch zoom’. Contrast to what you may have read in internet reports or newspapers regarding problems with the Google Nexus One’s keypad or Google’s customer service, the Nexus One is actually a very good Smartphone. It is very common to hear the phrase ‘iPhone beater’ around the new releases of Smartphones but, in reality, most handsets that carry the Android operating system are content with just being ahead of much larger brands like Samsung, RIM (BlackBerry) and Nokia. The Google Nexus One, being offered by a huge online business, means that data transfer via the internet is of paramount importance to the success of the handset, and will certainly be a feature that Google are sure to hone to the highest standards possible.

The Google Nexus One is, ultimately, a phone from the internet giant that brings the fight right to the doorstep of Apple’s iPhone. Packing a huge number of features and available applications, the Nexus One should not simply be dismissed. In fact, it can do many things that its closest rivals only dream about doing. Some might say that deciding between the two comes down to one thing – branding. So, do you want a fashion accessory or a professional Smartphone?

Help Prevent CyberBullying & Sexting with My Mobile Watchdog

June 3rd, 2010 ~ Posted in: Uncategorized

My Mobile Watchdog was originally created  to help in an investigation involving an 11 year child. Initially not a commercial product, MMWD was called RADAR and was provided to law enforcement on an as needed basis. It quickly became apparent how big the problem of child exploitation was and how a new generation of exploiters were using cellular phones to gain unprecedented access to  children .

To date law enforcement has used My Mobile Watchdog to arrest and convict over 300 Internet predators. 90% of those convicted did not have a prior record and were not registered sex offenders. It is estimated there are nearly 700,000 registered sex offenders in the United States alone. There simply are not enough law enforcement personnel to protect America’s children from exploitation.

1.   Stranger Danger – Parents need to know who is talking to their children. MMWD has been used by parents to prevent or stop drug abuse as well as the effects of other bad influences on their children.

2.   Sexting – This is becoming epidemic in high schools around the country and many child suicides have been attributed to this special form of mobile harassment, taking sexual or other exploitive pictures, often secretively, and sending them by phone to others.

3.   Cyber Bullying – It is well realized that Cyber Bullying has become the leading mobile issue today. Thousands of every day incidents around the country have resulted in some kind of traumatic event for the children involved, sometimes even suicide. With the mobile device as the communication medium, these messages can be transmitted to dozens, if not hundreds of children within seconds of pressing the send button. A child’s reputation can be destroyed in a matter of minutes.

4.   Inappropriate Internet Activity – Children lack the maturity to handle much of the content available to them on the Internet today. MMWD gives parents the tools to supervise and help guide their children through this possibly puzzling information.

Live links, love detector

June 2nd, 2010 ~ Posted in: Uncategorized

Live Links has very upbeat music playing in the background and a flirty fun female voice directing you through the chat line.  At the main menu you can jump right into the live chat and listen to other people’s greetings, or you can surf through the main menu options.

They have a Hot list, where you keep record of callers you find interesting.  It’s like an address book for callers you would like to speak with again. So you can save someone to your hotlist and be able to find them for future reference.  I think this is nice because then you don’t have to search through all the other guys to find this one special person again.  Even if they aren’t online anymore you still have the ability to leave them a message.

Live links has a complete separate menu where you can listen to all their services and offerings.  They have a member reward program for VIP members.  I believe this is a good feature to have for regulars on the chat line.  They didn’t go into detail about the specific rewards you can get as a VIP member, but you have higher chances of getting benefits.

They also offered what they called live links 10-10.  They gave a separate phone number for this line and it costs 99 cents per minute and 2.99 for a connections fee to connect with live singles in your area.  Sounds kind of expensive to me, and i am not sure what the difference is.

This chat line is doing a lot of things in the phone dating world.  They have a separate Latin chat line, they were happy to promote.  As well as an all female chat.  This is called Lavender line, and it’s strictly for lesbian women to chat one-on-one.

One feature that Live Links offers is called Love detected.  This seemed strange to me, but i would be really interested to see if people actually use this.  It determines how your match feels about you.  They promote it so that callers can find out if the person they are connecting with feels the same way you feel about them. They use a new technology that reads the voice and tells the caller what sense of feelings they are putting out by just the tone of their voice.

A pitfall I found while being on the phone line was that there was a greeting that was an advertisement.  It was playing an ad for Wells Fargo.  I wouldn’t think that this phone dating service would like callers using their phone lines to promote business.

A Universal Cell Phone Charger May Just Hit the Market Eventually

June 2nd, 2010 ~ Posted in: Uncategorized

We have all been there before; the cell phone needs charged and the charger has grown a pair of legs and walked away. It would seem like  an easy  idea to just grab your spouse’s, friends or roommates charger to save you from a complete breakdown, but up until recently, the cell phone companies had other ideas.

Cell phone companies in Europe recently agreed to manufacture a universal charger that will work with any mobile device sold in Europe. Great news for those of you who live there, but for those in the United States, you are probably wondering if you will ever see this product on the market. Yes, rumors you may have heard regarding a universal cell phone charger coming to the market in the United States are true, but you will have to wait awhile .

The bigwigs at the major cell phone companies in the United States say that they will be working on a universal charger that should be available by the year 2012. This means that no matter what type of cell phone or mobile device you own, you and anyone that you know will be able to use the same  charging device  . Of course there is always the exception and in this case the exception is Apple. Apple, who manufactures and sells the popular iphone decided to not enter into the agreement. For those of you with a mobile device from Apple, you are going to need to continue to keep your charger under lock and key so that it does not get lost. Apple users can always hold out that the company will change their mind at some point before 2012 however .

From a consumer standpoint , this is an agreement that should have been put into place years ago . From a business standpoint, a universal charger means that cell phone companies will be losing money on selling extra accessories, but it is a minor price to pay in order to keep customers happy. Rather than having to order, pay and wait for another charger in the event that yours is lost, you can merely borrow one from someone you know. It will also make it easier to find a new charger if you lose yours and cannot borrow one from someone else. No matter where you live, you should be able to walk into any cell phone carrier or electronics store and buy one. This is great for those who live in small towns who may not have access to products offered by their cell phone carrier at their fingertips.

It would be nice of cell phone companies would take this agreement a step farther. For cell phone users, a universal Bluetooth device and memory storage card would be a convenient addition to the agreement, but nothing is on the table as of the current date. So for now, you should still be hopeful that you never lose your cell phone charger, but in the future your mobile life is going to become a little easier. It is going to be interesting to see if the universal charger will open the doors for other universal device trends

Blackberry Wireless Phone – A Change Is Coming

June 1st, 2010 ~ Posted in: Uncategorized

Blackberry Wireless PhoneA Change Is Coming?

A change is coming, but not a new one, just an old one revisited.  Suffice it to say that cell phones aren’t what they use to be, but then again – neither were computers.  So . . . how many similarities can we find?

Computers use to be big and not very functional except for the basics.  Cell phones use to be so big and the only reason you would end the call was because your arm got tired.  And of course these amazing new devices were peculiarly . . . just a phones.

They both got smaller.  Then if you wanted something more powerful and with more features (computers and cell phones alike) you went out and bought a new one.

Then both computers and cell phones alike became even smaller and thinner than anyone ever thought imaginable.  For Computers the celebrated divergence came in the version of the IBM ThinkPad and for cellular users it just had to be the Motorola Razr.

Computers went to the flat screen and then year by year became bigger and bigger.  Hmmm . . . anyone ever heard of the ‘Droid’?

With computers you could add more memory to speed up your device and make it more functional.  Cell phones have followed the same path.  Computers then made the leap – don’t buy a new one, just upgrade your software.  Interesting . . .
I have noticed over the last several months how AT&T was making such a big deal about how their phones could run multiple applications at the same time, whereas the Verizon phones could not.  Suddenly, I get a message from Verizon.  New software is available for me to download that will allow my blackberry wireless phone to run multiple applications simultaneously.

I downloaded it in seconds and voila!  Multiple applications are running on my blackberry wireless phone.  For free by the way Mr. Gates.  This differentiation alone lets me know that Bill is not on the Q.T. running the cellular industry.

Cellular phones are formally running the same successful marketing strategies originally launched by the computer giants.  Let’s face it, once cell phones moved into the ‘applications’ market, who needs a new phone?  Just like computers, the equipment is fine, I just want the new stuff that is out on the market and available to me.  And the cell phone manufacturers are now delivering it.  The fact is; my phone was fine, it just didn’t run multiple applications on my net like AT&T’s.  So, with just one software download and the problem (if there really was one) was corrected.

Where are we going from here?  Well, if memory serves correctly, and according to Blackberry Wireless Phone (an consummer advocay group for on-line cellular buyers) given the current market condition there are a great many ‘free’ applications available for our cell phones, and of course you can buy some as well.  I expect that the ‘free’ ones will soon become the minority and the ‘paid’ versions will be the bulk of what you can purchase.  Additionally, expect the prices to start mounting just like with Microsoft.

Pay as You Go Cell Phones Compared to Regular Phones

May 31st, 2010 ~ Posted in: Uncategorized

How are pay as you go cell phones compared to regular contract cell phones?

Recently I read a question from a 14 year old in Yahoo Answers who wrote asking about how pay as you go cell phones stacked up in comparison to phones that you purchase along with a cell phone contract.

When they were first introduced to the market pay as you go cell phones might not have been up to par with contract phones. These days with phones like the Kyocera Loft, Rumour Touch, and Blackberry Curve 8530 I think you’d be hard pressed to find many differences.

If you are looking for a sleek stylish phone that has a camera, a full qwerty keyboard for texting and full internet access for under a hundred bucks the Loft is absolutely amongst the front runners. This phone comes with a battery that gives you an actual talk time of 4 hours and a standby time of over 9 days! Wow! It’s 2.2″ QVGA screen is great for texting and visiting Facebook or MySpace. Virgin Mobile sells this phone at $69.99 for now but I don’t know how long thats going to last.

Want to make your friends green with envy? The Blackberry Curve will place you in the realm of “legendary” but it’s price tag is a whopping $299.99. Still with 3G speeds, a slide out qwerty keyboard, blue tooth, mp3, mobile web, maps and navigation, YouTube, memory card slot and voice activated dialing it might be worth saving up your paycheck for a while.

Don’t need all the extra stuff but still need a good phone? Don’t worry there are some quality flips out there for less than $25 that will do just fine. For example, consider the LG Flare for $19.99 at Virgin Mobile. Buy this phone and the company will donate $5.00 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for research toward curing breast cancer.  It may not be fancy but iIt will text, IM, receive email and a whole lot more. At this price it’s is a gem and a real bargain.

All things considered the pay as you go cell phones have come a long way and I think they’re neck and neck with regular contrcat phones. Do your homework and I think you’ll agree.

The Printed Circuit Board Explained

May 30th, 2010 ~ Posted in: Uncategorized

The Printed Circuit Board, or PCB, has revolutionized the electronics industry. Invented in the 1930s, it has come to be used in every imaginable electronic gadget. This article explains the importance of these boards, and examines their benefits and manufacturing options.

Why Use A PCB? What Can It Be Used For?

Before delving into the details, it’s important for you to know the possible applications of printed circuit boards, and why you should use them (i.e., what their advantages are).

What can you use them for? Absolutely everything! There’s nearly no electronic device that can’t be reinforced using PCBs. Battery-operated toys, cell phones, music players, TVs, computers, automobiles, aircraft – almost everything that uses some sort of electronics, makes use of them.

Whether you’re a hobbyist building a toy, a student doing science-project, or an appliance-maker manufacturing millions of devices, the use of printed boards offer benefits.

Firstly, a PCB is much smaller than other types of circuits. Its reduced size is an extremely important aspect to its overall production process. In addition, a printed circuit greatly reduces the need for wires. This improves the appearance of the final circuit and enhances durability. For mass-producers ordering in large production, it’s the cheapest method, offering huge cost benefits.

What are the Key Design Considerations when making a PCB?

There Are Three Main Elements:

  • A laminate board.
  • The components mounted on the board.
  • Traces that serve as the “wires” connecting components and forming the circuit.

The actual components used depend entirely on the purpose of circuit. Examining which components to use is best dealt in an encyclopedia series. This leaves laminate boards and traces. Production costs, working efficiency and operating cost of the finished circuit, all depend on these elements.

Of the several materials used for the boards, six are the most widely manufactured: FR-1, FR-2, FR-3, FR-4, CEM-1 and CEM-3. “FR” stands for “flame retardant”. FR 1, 2 and 3 are basically the same, with only minor differences in properties. They are not suited for building multilayer boards. The same is true for CEM-1.

FR-4 and CEM-3 are two laminates that can be used for multilayer boards. Of the two, FR-4 is more widely manufactured, and therefore is cheaper. It can be used for single and multilayer boards, and has excellent thermal tolerance up to 130°C.

Copper is the most commonly used material for traces. Unsophisticated methods involve plating the entire board with copper, and then etching away unnecessary areas through a mask (stencil) to leave the required traces. More complex methods allow traces to be added on to a bare board. Each approach has associated pros and cons.

Some boards require the use of gold for sensitive, low-voltage applications or lead-free (RoHS) compliance. Copper traces usually demand the use of a nickel barrier layer before gold-plating. This is to prevent gold from migrating into the copper. Indiscriminate use of nickel can result in huge losses to impedance.

If you want to develop a custom PCB, it’s suggested that you first spend a little time understanding the basics of PCB design. There are several detailed guides and tutorials. Also, design and simulation software are available to help you test your design before you make a PCB Prototype.

Download WAP, 3G & GRPS Settings for more than 400 mobile operators

May 29th, 2010 ~ Posted in: Uncategorized

Many people who own mobile phones have a number of diverse problems that may surface from time to time. For instance, one such problem might be an inability to browse the WWW due to accidentally wiping out the essential WAP, 3G or GRPS settings necessary in order for the mobile Internet to function. There appears to be no such reset key in order to repair the default settings, so what is an unfortunate mobile phone user to do in such a situation, especially when he or she genuinely needs to look up those directions?
Those unfortunate mobile users are now in luck, thanks to the rise of Tweakker, from which users can download the needed settings in order to reestablish their mobile Internet connection, or set it up to begin with if such an ability was not previously existing.

It is not a service that of which is limited to any one area or any one manufacturer of mobile phones, either; Tweakker presently serves 65 diverse countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas, as well as retaining compatibility with 400 several <a href=”http://tweakker.com/info/index.html”>mobile operators.</a>
Popularly serviced countries include the United Kingdom, Turkey, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Kenya, Germany, France, Jordan, Luxembourg and over 55 more. Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, O2, 3, Movistar, Netcom, Vivo are a few examples of supported manufacturers.

It is wise to take advantage of such a service because just about any mobile phone will come with extra features which demand a connection to the Internet, either temporarily or for the duration of using the feature, which claim the correct configuration in order to function. Sometimes these settings will not come preconfigured from the manufacturer, in which case it is required to manually input them – or to have a favorable, free service handle it automatically.
Downloading WAP, 3G or GRPS settings for mobile phones is as trim as signing up for the service on the Tweakker web page. From there, one just needs to enter the appropriate country code followed by the mobile phone number on the provided form and wait. After a few seconds, the configuration will be downloaded and Internet connectivity should take place from there without any such problems.

In downloading the proper settings that of which are essential to obtain Internet connectivity on a mobile phone, a mobile user is free to explore all of the features their particular service provider offers in their mobile Internet. This may include downloading applications, surfing the web on a mobile browser, sending instant messages, streaming video shows or other such types of media, buy and play new games, share pictures with friends, or even conveniently email these friends.

In the event that any problems may occur, there are video tutorials on the web page which mean to help a user figure out what to do and to guide them through the process of configuring their mobile phone for online activity. This means that, no matter what happens in one’s experience on the site, Tweakker has them covered.
