Can you use the 3G phone from T-Mobile as a prepaid phone?

I need a temporary phone because my late phone recently broke. My friend is willing to lend me his 3G, but i don’t to make a plan or anything. So if I put a prepaid sim card in the 3G will it work?

Yes you can as long as the phone is from the same service provider as your sim card.
