is a i9 phone able to handle a 3g card?

I was told by a vendor that most sim cards were going 3g soon. I have one 3g phone, but I really want the iclone i9 phone. I was wondering if that phone could support a 3g sim card?

at this point it will not support 3g… but might in the near future.
