Is the New Ipad tablet web+3G model compatible with any phone company?

February 17th, 2010 ~ Posted in: 3g phone

I am getting an ipad, but i am not sure to get the basic wifi or the wifi+3G. My phone line is under Sprint.

The AT&T is an option offered, but to my understanding you can get your service plan with any carrier. Because of the issues surrounding the proprietorial service plan on the iphone, Apple seems to have decided to lose that on the iPad in order to get more sales.

    nope, only under at&t

dont get it. it is just a huge ipod touch
    here are all the flaws:
only one app open at a time
    no camera
    no mic
those are the three big things that are keeping me from buying it.

WiFi version doesn’t need a carrier, 3G version just needs a Data only sim card which you can get from just about any Telco company,

By the way it does have a microphone built in.

not exactly sure how this is going to work, but apple has made an exclusive deal with at&t for unlimited data plan for $29 p/m, half of what at&t charges for the same service for netbook users. apple has said the deal with at&t will be a prepaid service with no contract & you can activate or cancel the subscription as you wish with the ipad itself,,, apple is not stupid, they give you the ability to activate the 3g service directly from your ipad so you dont need to call at&t. as this is a built-in feature & you do not have access to open or change any cards or sims, apple has made it so at&t will be the only carrier it will connect to (until someone jailbreaks it). also, no pre orders are being accepted yet because it has not been approved for use by the FCC… plus fujitsu is not happy about apple taking the name ipad. 3 years ago fujitsu made a business device with the registered trademark name of ipad.

    It’s Only on AT&T.
One of the best things about the 3G version is that you don’t have to have a AT&T plan.
The installation is simple. You can do it right off of the iPad.
My favorite thing is that there no 1 or 2 year contract. You can cancel when ever you want to.
The fee is 14.99 for a 250 MB space ( i don’t now that that means ) or 29.99 for unlimited web.
