noika 95 8 gig or ifone?
February 16th, 2010 ~ Posted in: ifonewhich would you rather have?
N95 8Gb every time, sure you may have to charge it up every day or two (switching things like the Wi-Fi and bluetooth off extend the battery life) but you know you have an amazingly capable phone which is crammed with modern features – unlike the iphone which is years behind technology wise. No 3G, no Java, no Video Calling, no third party applications, bad camera in comparison, no MMS (Picture Messaging) to name a few of it’s limitations.
People who buy an iPhone in Europe should get a big tattoo on their forehead free of charge saying MUG for spending the best part of £300 on a phone which doesn’t even have basic features we all take for granted.

Well, an iPhone costs £269 and the 18 month contract will set you back another £899. If you’re made of money, go for the iPhone, if not then go for the other one. I don’t understand why everyone’s going nuts for it anyway – yes it was a ipod, but can only hold about 600 songs. It connects to the internet? So do most of the phones sold on the market today! Waste of money!

The Gadget Show had a feature on both. I thought the Nokia came out the clear favourite. it had a better camera and the i-phone had no blue tooth and no video.

My friend recently bought the N95 and let me have a play. It is a very capable phone, and with 8 GB of memory, it is bound last a long time and be full of pictures, video clips, films, music etc. As far as I could tell, there was nothing negative about it at all. But I don’t have to live with it, so don’t quote me!
The iPhone is obviously going to cost a lot of money. The numbers have already been posted, so I will not bother reposting and instead will just thank the user that did the research. However, for that, you are getting a fully functioning iPod, a fully functioning phone, and a fully functioning internet browser, among other things. If someone can watch the demonstration video showing how to view and manipulate pictures and the internet and say they are NOT impressed, they are lying. However, if all you want is a phone, this is a LOT of money for some features that, while incredible, you will not be using.
Personally, I have been looking at getting an iPhone, because I am shopping aorund for both a new phone and a new iPod. However, there is one option that hasn’t been mentioned, probably because it is a bit shady and back handed, and to be entirely honest, I’m not sure if I am allowed to talk about it. But who cares?
Basically, you could easily find one on Ebay for about the price O2 are asking, or maybe even cheaper. You could then get said phone unlocked, and use any old SIM card you like in it, whether it be an old contract one or PAYG. This would undoubtably save you a lot of money, but as with everything bought online, make absolutely sure you know EXACTLY what you are buying and do your research before buying it. Many places offer phone unlocking, and some places even offer to tell you how to do it yourself, but again, do your research before coming to a conclusion.
Hope I helped!

Further to prvious comments need to correct a few!
no good getting iPhone unlocked as SIM is in a sealed unit and when opened and reloaded with new SIM will freeze the device which Apple will not replace – END OF!
Nokia N95 8gb has limited battery life by comparison to std N95. Best bet is N95 and a seperate 8gb mem card or iPhone if you’re happy to spend that money and tariffs will suit
